Debt or Trespass?
The post discusses the concept of sin and God’s eternal self-gift, emphasizing that the Greek use of ‘debt’ in the Lord’s Prayer doesn’t simply mean trespass or sin, but rather refers to how we often fall short of receiving, sharing, and modeling God’s love.

Light just one candle
SOMETIME IN MIDDLE SCHOOL in the Catskill Mountains I learned that Hanukkah was not “Jewish Christmas” but something else. The local library had a book sale, I came across a little book called The Hannukah Book, by Mae Shafter Rockland, published in 1975 and influenced by the Peace MovementTM. I still have it – although…

Unlocked
O Key of David and sceptre of the House of Israel; you open and no one can shut; you shut and no one can open: Come and lead the prisoners from the prison house, those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death.

Not Trad-giving
My friend Bruce and I started out ith a not-traditional Thanksgiving. Radically One

Out with the old
I promised one more photopost. I’m hyped up on Endorphins and it’s after midnight. But I covered up my old, pre-Christian tattoo with a new one, done by my excellent friend, Jess Jenkins at Red Kestrel Jess and I previously worked together at Patreon. JEss has a gentle hand and a skillful eye. From my…

Not Quite Thanksgiving
We served our thanksgiving luncheon today: turkey (breasts), smashed cheesy potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, cranberries, and a salad. I know canned food drives some folks bonkers, but this was basically normal food for most of my life. The only things missing are pecan pies, biscuits, cornbread, and stuffing. Thus, minus all the extra carbs,…

Wisdom, Attend!
O Wisdom, coming forth from the mouth of the Most High, reaching from one end to the other, mightily and sweetly ordering all things: Come and teach us the way of prudence.

Turn of the Century
The post is a personal reflection on the author’s journey, regretting his decision to remain childless. Initially irritated by a priest’s noisy child during services, his resentment led him to tackle deeper questions about his chosen childlessness. This self-analysis, stemming from a single remark by his pastor, led him to understand the community’s shared responsibility…
