Canon of supplication to the most holy Theotokos, in Tone II
ODE I
Come, O people, let us sing a song to Christ our God, Who divided the sea, and made a way for the nation which He had brought up out of the bondage of Egypt; for He has been glorified.
Most holy Theotokos, save us!
From cruel misfortunes, infirmities and transgressions, О most pure one, now save me who with my soul and mouth piously confess you to be the Theotokos.
Most holy Theotokos, save us!
We have come to know the whole depth of the grace which rests within you; wherefore, fleeing earnestly to your divine protection, О Theotokos, we are saved.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
Entreat Him Who became incarnate from your most pure and precious blood, О most pure one, on behalf of us who hymn you, that we may be delivered from transgressions and bitter pain.
Both now and forever and to ages of ages. Amen.
All of us, the faithful, have acquired you as our refuge, confirmation and joy, the salvation of our souls, our hope and bulwark, О you who are full of the grace of God.
ODE III
O Lord, who slew sin upon the tree, firmly establish us in You, and in the hearts of us who hymn You plant the fear of You.
Most holy Theotokos, save us!
By your supplications, О pure one, render God, to Whom you have given birth, easily reconciled with your servants, who have recourse to your protection and worship your birthgiving with faith.
Most holy Theotokos, save us!
О all-hymned Virgin, hearken unto my prayers, which issue forth from the depths of my heart, and which I offer you; and save me from sufferings and perils.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
Direct my whole life, О Virgin, my hope and intercessor, delivering me from temptations and the visitation of the needs of life, О Bride of God.
Both now and forever and to ages of ages. Amen.
In that you bore the hypostatic Wisdom of God in your arms, О Mother of God, pray that we be delivered from ignorance and error.
ODE IV
I have heard report O Lord, of Your glorious dispensation, and I have glorified, Your unapproachable power, O Lover of mankind.
Most holy Theotokos, save us!
О Lady who gave birth to God, grant me release from the wounds of my soul and the defilements of the flesh.
Most holy Theotokos, save us!
With faith and hope, О Virgin, make me steadfast, who have been defiled by the passions, evil thoughts and the threefold waves of life.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
By your supplications deliver me from the visitation of tempest and tribulations, О only all-hymned Mother of God.
Both now and forever and to ages of ages. Amen.
Rescue me who am battered by the waves of life, О Virgin, guiding me to your harbor.
ODE V
O Lord, Bestower of light and Creator of the ages: guide us in the light of Your commandments, for we know none other God than You.
Most holy Theotokos, save us!
Having you as an invincible weapon against the divers temptations of the enemy, we who acknowledge you to be the pure Theotokos are manifestly delivered from all affliction.
Most holy Theotokos, save us!
More exalted than the cherubim, you gave birth to the fullness of the law: the only-begotten Son, God the Logos incarnate. Beseech Him on behalf of your servants.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
As you bore the Creator of all in your arms, О pure one, by your intercessions render Him easily reconciled with us who now flee to you with all our heart.
Both now and forever and to ages of ages. Amen.
In oppression and pain of soul I offer my supplication unto you, wretch that I am: О you who have alone given birth to the Logos, the Source of compassions, take pity, and save me!
ODE VI
Whirled about in the abyss of sin, I appeal to the unfathomable abyss of Your compassion: Raise me up from corruption, O God.
Most holy Theotokos, save us!
I know you to be the haven of salvation, О Lady, and sailing the sea of life, which is full of great grief, I cry out to you: Be the helmsman of my soul!
Most holy Theotokos, save us!
I have been stripped bare of the vesture of chastity and am greatly afflicted; yet grant me a robe of joy, О Ever-virgin Mother who gave birth to God.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
I have fallen away from a pure life and live in slothfulness, beguiled by the passions; yet raise me up, О blessed Lady, bringing me back to the precepts of your Son.
Both now and forever and to ages of ages. Amen.
Grant unto me your mercy, О Theotokos who has given birth to the supremely merciful Logos Who by His own blood has delivered mankind from corruption.
Lord, have mercy, (3x).
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
Both now and forever and to ages of ages. Amen.
Sessional Hymn, in Tone II:
By your prayers, О pure Ever-virgin, grant me divine entry, and, having broken asunder the bonds of my cruel passions, free me from the flame which is to come.
ODE VII
When the golden image was worshipped on the plain of Dura, Your three children spurned the impious command, and, being cast into the midst of the flame, they were bedewed, and sang: O God of our fathers, Blessed are You!
Most holy Theotokos, save us!
He Who became incarnate from you, О Birthgiver of God, and was nailed to the Cross has rent asunder the record of Adam. Him beseech, О Virgin, that they may be delivered from all evil who cry out with faith: Blessed are you who has given birth to God in the flesh!
Most holy Theotokos, save us!
О Lady, you are the goodly hope and helper of the faithful; and we now pray that you grant an abyss of mercy unto all who set their hope on you and cry out to you: Blessed are you who has given birth to God in the flesh!
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
Beset by the cruel darkness of life, I have found noone to share my suffering and pain. О Virgin. By your radiance loose the darkness of transgressions and illumine me, that I may hymn you: Blessed are you who has given birth to God in the flesh!
Both now and forever and to ages of ages. Amen.
Having been clothed through baptism in the beautiful robe of the saving commandments, I have sullied it with slothfulness, wretch that I am; and I now flee to you, О Virgin, asking that through you I may be clothed again in the vesture of salvation.
ODE VIII
All you works, hymn God Who descended into the fiery furnace with the Hebrew children, and transformed the flame into dew, and supremely exalt Him as Lord throughout all ages.
Most holy Theotokos, save us!
My mind now fails, having fallen into the abyss of dishonor, for I have been beset from every quarter by divers evils; yet, О Virgin, heal me, clothing me in the light of dispassion.
Most holy Theotokos, save us!
Having acquired you through faith as a steadfast tower and foundation of strength, a protector and helper, О most pure one, we are now saved, singing praise to your Offspring and supremely exalting Him throughout all ages.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
О Theotokos, we know you as a ray and wellspring of immortality, for you have given birth to the Logos of the immortal Father, Who delivered from death all who supremely exalt Him throughout all ages.
Both now and forever and to ages of ages. Amen.
О pure one, you ever pour forth streams of healings upon us, the faithful, and taking abundant grace there-from. О pure one, we hymn your Offspring and supremely exalt Him throughout all ages.
ODE IX
God the Logos, God of God, Who by ineffable wisdom came to create Adam anew after his grievous fall to corruption through eating and Who took flesh beyond all telling from the Holy Virgin for our sake, Him we faithful with one accord magnify in song.
Most holy Theotokos, save us!
О Maiden blessed by God, I have earnestly placed all my hope in you: Save me, О Mother of the true Life, and pray, О pure one, that I who with faith and love magnify you with hymns may be filled with everlasting sustenance.
Most holy Theotokos, save us!
О Virgin who was revealed to be the portal of the divine Light, by your immaterial light and radiance illumine the darkness of my soul, and by your mediations grant that I may be delivered from eternal fire, that I may unceasingly magnify you.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
Looking upon those sick in soul and body and cast into cruel sufferings, О Lady, and healing them in your compassion, grant release to those who are now troubled by grief, that they may magnify you with faith and love.
Both now and forever and to ages of ages. Amen.
The Son Whom the paternal Father begat from Himself made His abode within your womb, becoming a perfect man, О Mother of God, and has shown you to be a wellspring of grace for us who worship your ineffable birthgiving with faith.
Then, “It is truly meet …,” and a prostration.
Trisagion through Our Father… Troparion.
The rest as usual, and the dismissal.
