I made two of these crocheted circles in ’91 or ’92 while sitting in a very long, very boring staff meeting at 815 2nd Avenue in New York. There was a group of us that did needlework in the back row during staff meetings. The Presiding Bishop once commented that he knew he had made a good point when the whole back row would look up from their needlework. Anyway I didn’t even write the pattern down I just sort of doodled this. I have one on a banner that I made and one is stitched to my backpack. Neither of them have fared very well over the last 30 years, but they end up being meditation foci more than anything else. And people ask me about the one on my backpack. But after 30 years of looking at them I noticed a pattern in the middle and so I’ve been experimenting in doing something like this pattern again. But in two colors.

It is a much heavier cotton as I could not find the right color blue in the smaller thread. But perhaps in the future. Anyway I’m very pleased.
